This is the company to hire if you want to see Stonehenge and get a detailed description of the history of the area and the engineering it took to build the site. Our tour guide, Max, contacted us a few days before our tour, picked us up on time, and gave an interesting overview of the area we were driving through. I recommend In and Beyond Bath for any tour in the region

Thank you so much, Christina, for your wonderful review. We are delighted that Max gave you such a thorough and engaging explanation of Stonehenge's history and the engineering behind it, and that his early contact and timely pickup got your tour off to such a smooth start. We have so much more to show you across the region, so we do hope to welcome you back soon. Warm regards, In and Beyond Bath TeamPosted on Google![]()

My husband and I booked a half day Stonehenge experience from Bath for our anniversary. Our tour guide, Chris, was incredibly communicative from the start. His knowledge of Stonehenge and the surrounding areas made the trip not only enjoyable but informative. We really appreciated not only the Stonehenge specific information but also the additional regional knowledge. Our only complaint is we wish we’d booked a longer tour with some of the additional areas he mentioned as well!
Owner's reply
Hi Katherine, Thank you for your kind review! We're so glad you both enjoyed your trip to Stonehenge, especially on your anniversary. I hope we made you inquisitive enough about our region for you to come back on another special occasion. Hope to see you soon, I have so much more to show you! Guests Florencio Sia, Nelly Sia and Giselle Yap Our guide Mr. Simon Whittaker was very good, entertaining and knowledgeable. He drove us to Bath and gave us a half day walking tour which was very interesting and informative. We were impressed with his knowledge and his enthusiasm in imparting the history and beauty of Bath to us. We also went to STONEHENGE and he gave us a nice lecture about the meaning of of the rocks. We also went to the Roman Baths at night, upon his advice, and indeed, it looked better because of the lights and music. Overall, we really enjoyed his company, the drive was smooth and his stories were interesting. I will give him a 5 star rating!!!+1

We took a full day 8 person (7 adults, one infant) private tour with Simon of In and Beyond Bath, and it was all we had hoped for and more. Simon was fun, friendly, and outstandingly knowledgeable about the places we visited (Stonehenge, Avebury and the Cotswolds.) From the early planning stages (where he was always just an email away to help us plan not only our day, but other logistics as well) to helping us get the absolute most out of each of our stops, it was clear that Simon knows the area and the history intimately and he shared it all in an approachable, engaging way. We felt truly immersed! I cannot recommend Simon and In and Beyond Bath Tours highly enough. We all agree that of the 3 weeks we spent in the UK, our day with Simon was a true highlight.

It was so great to help you plan and then spend the day with three generations of your lovely family and show you the best of the region. Your little grandchild was so patient and good on the day - amazing! Come and see me again, as I've so much more up my sleeve to show you, that is both historic and remarkable... Extraordinary transfer and tour! Max picked us on arrival in Southampton from a cruise - and we had an unforgettable day visiting Salisbury, Stonehenge, Avebury, and the local areas en route to Bath. Max was just brilliant - knowledgeable, funny, and very helpful. We got a quick tour around Bath and recommendations for our visit. Things were easy to arrange and we were in great hands from start to finish. We highly recommend this talented and delightful team!

Beautiful English Countryside and Stonehenge This was a surprisingly delightful foray into the English countryside and to Stonehenge, led by our tour guide, Ralph Oxborrow, head of partnerships. There were two couples on the trip who we hit it off with, so a bonus. Highly recommend this trip, which was fun, relaxing, and informative. We had lunch at The Bath Arms at Longleat, which was charming (you pay for your own lunch, and it's good food).

Our half-day Stonehenge tour with Simon was the high point of our family's trip to the UK, and six months later it's still what we come back to when we talk about the trip. That's saying something, because we spent real time in London and traveled elsewhere in the country. Simon picked us up at our hotel in Bath and set the tone immediately. He treated us as guests in his country rather than passengers on a route. What followed wasn't a lecture but a day of learning through immersion. He moved across history, myth and fact, current scientific developments around the site, literary connections, and popular culture, and he kept it engaging without performing. He read the four of us quickly (my husband and I, plus our two adult children in their twenties) and shaped the day around what we were actually interested in. He asked us questions and answered ours, and he pointed out things in the countryside we would have driven past. The vehicle was clean and well-appointed, and the small group size made real conversation possible. Small-group tours cost more. I had done my research before booking and it was worth every additional pound. Stonehenge had been on my husband's bucket list for years, and by the time we left we had learned more about the site and the surrounding area than any of us expected, past and present, the kind of detail you can only get from someone who has firsthand experience. Simon also made recommendations throughout the day for places to visit and things to read, and every one of them has held up. They've extended my reading and given me threads to pull on long after the trip ended. I've been on many tours, including several trips through Europe with students and different tour companies, and this one stood apart. Simon works with a small group of guides from “In & Beyond Bath” who treat this as a craft rather than a job, and it shows in every part of the day. I rarely write reviews, but if you're heading to the UK and Stonehenge is on your list, book this one.+6

We had an incredible tour with Chris from In and Beyond Bath this past Friday. He was truly fantastic! Not only was he deeply knowledgeable about Stonehenge, but he also brought the broader history of the UK to life throughout the day. Chris went well beyond what we expected. Alongside the visit to Stonehenge, he guided us through several medieval towns, sharing stories and context that made everything feel connected and easy to follow. We also stopped for a cozy lunch in a small tavern, which was a perfect, relaxed break in the middle of the day. We ended the experience feeling informed and inspired, still thinking about the millions of people who have passed through Stonehenge over time. It was memorable from start to finish, and we would highly recommend both Chris and In and Beyond Bath.

I get to meet so many interesting and warm hearted people from around the world that it makes my job a privilege to do and I am so glad you enjoyed our time together. I hope the rest of your trip was everything you hoped for and please look us up again when you come back to the UK. Warm regards, ChrisPosted on Google![]()

We had a wonderful experience traveling from Bath to Windsor with Max. He arrived right on time, helped with our luggage, and was exceptionally friendly—going out of his way to learn all of our names, which was a thoughtful touch. We were also traveling with our 4-month-old baby, and Max was incredibly accommodating and attentive throughout the journey. Along the way, we visited several sites, including Stonehenge, where he shared a wealth of knowledge that really enhanced the experience. We also stopped in Mells, where Max introduced us to a charming local pub and the village church—both highlights of the day. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a memorable and personalized experience. It was truly fantastic!+1

We just had the best day with Max. First day was just transport from airport to hotel but even that was filled with so many tidbits of knowledge that made the drive a joy. Max is an absolute delight. Next day we toured Stonehenge and Bath. It was an exceptional experience because of Max. He is a wealth of knowledge and he truly made our days in the area memorable and fun. Without a doubt, worth every penny. Even our 11 year old son raved about the day and Max! My husband and I are already planning our next vacation to the Cotswolds and saying we have to have Max again. Thank you for a fabulous day!

Dear Lindsey, Thank you for your very kind review! I really enjoyed meeting you and your family, and would be delighted to accompany you should you decide to visit the Cotswolds - or elsewhere in Britain. We did a private tour of Stonehenge with them. Simon was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. He explained the history of Stonehenge, and other places on the road to it, in a very detailed and interesting way. We hope we can come to Bath some other time and do another tour of this area with him

Half-Days = a quick and focused visit.
Full-Days = a richer, deeper experience, with more stories, places, and surprises along the way.
