Tour Overview
Depart Bath for a truly extraordinary journey into the England's ancient past.
Venture east along 'The Great West Way' (the ancient road between London and Bristol) to encounter Britain's greatest prehistoric site - the great stone-circle at Avebury.
Marvel at the scale of Silbury Hill, a mysterious prehistoric mound that rivals some of the pyramids in size, before stopping to walk the short distance to enter one of England's most ancient and impressive burial mounds dating back over 5000 years.
Then, following the ancient avenue of stones leading from the ancient ridgeway to Avebury, discover the mysterious Avebury stone-circle, the largest stone circle in Europe.
Spend the afternoon, after lunch at a stunning, quintessential English pub, exploring the perfectly preserved medieval village of Lacock, filming location for Harry Potter, Pride & Prejudice and much, much more. Visit Lacock Abbey, an extraordinary grand house, that began life as a nunnery before being converted into a family home and, later, becoming the birthplace of modern photography.
Finish the afternoon languidly strolling through the landscaped grounds of a great estate and window shopping in a historic Cotswolds market town before heading back to Bath, relaxed yet satisfied from the days wonders!
