"On our way back from Andalusia, Spain, we stopped off in London for a few days to enjoy that fantastic city. On one of the days, we took an early morning train to Bath and joined two other travellers on a tour up to Stonehenge, and as our gifted and talented guide called it, Secret England.
The latter turned out to be a visit to several small villages in Somerset to explore their beauty and historical significance. Our guide, Jules, is a former history teacher and he was able to really bring the history and importance of Stonehenge to life. Luckily, in late September, there aren't hordes of tourists and the weather was glorious.
After Stonehenge, we had a delightful pub lunch at the historic Bath Arms in Wiltshire. We naturally ordered the fish and chips. Our next stop was the village of Mells and St. Andrew's Church and Cemetery. The church has a long history, dating back to the 15th century, and has several significant decorative features, including memorials to some who died in World War I.
"I was standing at the grave of Siegfried Sassoon as Jules played a recording of Sassoon in his words. I was 14 years old when I first studied these poems about the horrors of war, and at this time I felt profound emotions that I had never felt during any travel visit or tour.
Hats off to Jules and In and Beyond Bath Tours for this moving yet wonderful experience. Overall, our visit went great, and visiting Stonehenge and the countryside of Somerset with Jules was a fantastic day away from London."

A great way to begin our visit to Bath! Justin, our guide, gave us a wonderful personal tour of Bath. He has a deep understanding of the area and its history, from ancient Roman times, through the Engish Reformation, to the Edwardian Era and the present. He is a congenial gentleman scholar who genuinely enjoy showing us the highpoints of the town. I highly recommend him.

Gary Mosholder3 days agoWhat a great experience we had! This is a tour that is unlike other standard tours. The tour guide makes everyone feel welcomed and is very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend! So impressed that I booked 2 more tours in 2026 for my family. Owner is a wonderful, thorough guide, and anyone looking for the best tours should inquire with this company!

Miketravelsworld19 days agoAn Enjoyable and Informative Tour of Bath! Today we had the pleasure of attending a walking tour of Bath with Justin of “In & Beyond Bath” tours. Justin is a wonderful and friendly tour guide who made us feel comfortable and at ease from the moment we met until the completion of the tour. He is very knowledgeable about all of the past and present history of Bath and its neighborhoods and architecture. He also customized the tour to our liking. We highly recommend walking Bath with him!

Jeff Barton20 days agoAn Absolutely Outstanding Tour — Ask for Chris! Our In & Beyond Tour with Chris was truly one of the highlights of our trip to England. From beginning to end, the experience was exceptional. Chris picked us up right on time from our hotel in Bath and immediately made us feel comfortable and excited about the day ahead. Rather than simply taking us to the typical tourist stops, he introduced us to several fascinating, off-the-beaten-path historical locations that we likely never would have discovered on our own. This was a full-day tour, and Chris packed it with an incredible amount of history, interesting facts, stories, and details. His knowledge of the area and its history was remarkable, but what really made the experience special was his ability to bring that history to life. It never felt like we were simply listening to facts — we felt like we were actually experiencing the history of the places we visited. The entire day was extremely well organized, informative, interesting, and enjoyable. Even after spending the whole day together, we found ourselves wishing we had more time. If you are visiting Bath and want to experience something beyond the usual tourist attractions, I highly recommend the In & Beyond Tour. And if you have the opportunity, specifically request Chris as your guide. He made an already wonderful experience truly memorable. Five stars without hesitation!

Joe Arciniega22 days agoOur two touring days with Simon "in and around Bath" were extraordinary in every possible way, and well beyond our expectations. Simon picked us up at our hotel, The Royal Crescent, and guided us on foot and in a touring car through the worlds (past and present) of Bath, the Cotswolds countryside, Castle Combe, La Cock, and Stourhead House and Gardens. Simon's deep knowledge and unbridled enthusiasm for the area made the facts and history of each place vibrantly alive for my wife and me. We learned so much and enjoyed every place we visited all the more. We are ever so grateful and recommend Simon and In and Around Bath to anyone that wants a deep and satisfying travel experience.

Simon's knowledge of the places we toured is extraordinary, and he delivers it all with such enthusiasm that we couldn't help but be dazzled. Janet S24 days agoIn & Beyond Bath: Avebury, Lacock, Castle Combe and more! Roland was personable and knowledgeable and took us to all the places we desired to see (and that were suggested by our tour company McKinlay Kidd). We really enjoyed having him as a guide!

Sarah Manchester26 days agoSimon provided us with two memorable tours- one of the Uffington White Horse and one of Wells Cathedral. Wells wasn’t even on our radar, but it is a gem of a little city- stunning cathedral, bishops palace and a library with some real treasures. Simon was extremely knowledgeable and informative and very good company. We highly recommend In and Beyond Bath.

Christina Tarvin26 days agoThis is the company to hire if you want to see Stonehenge and get a detailed description of the history of the area and the engineering it took to build the site. Our tour guide, Max, contacted us a few days before our tour, picked us up on time, and gave an interesting overview of the area we were driving through. I recommend In and Beyond Bath for any tour in the region

Katherine Marumoto29 days agoMy husband and I booked a half day Stonehenge experience from Bath for our anniversary. Our tour guide, Chris, was incredibly communicative from the start. His knowledge of Stonehenge and the surrounding areas made the trip not only enjoyable but informative. We really appreciated not only the Stonehenge specific information but also the additional regional knowledge. Our only complaint is we wish we’d booked a longer tour with some of the additional areas he mentioned as well!

Nelly Sia32 days agoGuests Florencio Sia, Nelly Sia and Giselle Yap Our guide Mr. Simon Whittaker was very good, entertaining and knowledgeable. He drove us to Bath and gave us a half day walking tour which was very interesting and informative. We were impressed with his knowledge and his enthusiasm in imparting the history and beauty of Bath to us. We also went to STONEHENGE and he gave us a nice lecture about the meaning of of the rocks. We also went to the Roman Baths at night, upon his advice, and indeed, it looked better because of the lights and music. Overall, we really enjoyed his company, the drive was smooth and his stories were interesting. I will give him a 5 star rating!!!

Ellen Wawryk40 days agoWe took a full day 8 person (7 adults, one infant) private tour with Simon of In and Beyond Bath, and it was all we had hoped for and more. Simon was fun, friendly, and outstandingly knowledgeable about the places we visited (Stonehenge, Avebury and the Cotswolds.) From the early planning stages (where he was always just an email away to help us plan not only our day, but other logistics as well) to helping us get the absolute most out of each of our stops, it was clear that Simon knows the area and the history intimately and he shared it all in an approachable, engaging way. We felt truly immersed! I cannot recommend Simon and In and Beyond Bath Tours highly enough. We all agree that of the 3 weeks we spent in the UK, our day with Simon was a true highlight.

Margaret E41 days agoAn amazing Trip in the Cotswolds Yesterday we visited The Cotswolds. It was a place I had wanted to visit for many years. Chris told us about the history of the area and the peaceful, picturesque towns and villages that we visited. He is an extremely knowledgeable guide, so it was a meaningful trip for me. Bridget M44 days agoJane Austen fan? Don’t miss this tour! We had a wonderful Jane Austen Walking Tour of Bath with Justin today. He was very knowledgeable and engaging and did a fantastic job of connecting the historical and cultural influences of the Georgian period with Jane Austen’s time living in Bath. We felt like we were walking in the footsteps of Jane Austen as we traversed the city of Bath, enjoyed the Georgian architecture, and learned so much about her time here. Highly recommend this tour! Loved it!

TheHaze46 days agoTwo Superb Day Tours with this Top-Notch Team! We had two incredible full-day tours with In & Beyond Bath. One was a tour/transfer which immersed us in Stonehenge, Avebury, neolithic history, and the English countryside on a journey from Southampton to Bath. The second was a tour/transfer which brought us across the Southern countryside and coast of Wales on our way from Bath to Cardiff. Each day was amazing, insightful and most enjoyable. We saw wonderful sights (many hidden gems!) and learned a great deal. Also, with In & Beyond Bath, there's always a great opportunity for an authentic local food experience. Our guides, Max and Simon, were superb - gracious, wise and witty. We've done many tours on international trips; the two days with In & Beyond Bath rank at the top of our experiences. We highly recommend this terrific team for your next tour/transfer/adventure.

Z C74 days agoExcellent bespoke experience This is a long overdue review for the great team at In & Beyond Bath. I suppose that gives away the plot. My mother and I had a lovely four days in and around Bath and the Cotswolds, thanks to the enthusiastic and entertaining Simon, the thoughtful and engaging Chris, and the hospitable and insightful Gavin. Simon took us to Wells to see the town and the cathedral, and the scenic Stourhead Garden. On the following tour day, Chris and Justin (?) took us around to the significant sights around Bath, making the most of things despite the rain, and into Sapperton and the surrounding areas. Simon took over again for our trip into the bucolic Cotswolds, where we had a full day visiting cute towns that were not swarmed with other tourists, as well as Malmesbury. Gavin took us on our last leg through several other Cotswolds towns, including Chipping Camden and the bustling Stow-on-the-Wold, before finishing with a brief but insightful tour of Oxford on the way to our final destination. In & Beyond Bath did an excellent job of creating a bespoke tour for our interests, in this case history and beautiful landscapes. I’d also have to say each of our guides had excellent palates, as we enjoyed each restaurant and pub they suggested along the way. It is not a budget proposition, but I feel you do get value for money in the personable and knowledgeable guides, comfortable transportation, recommendations that travelers from abroad might not normally have on their lists (for me, Wells Cathedral, Stourhead Garden and Malmesbury), and the ability to be flexible ad hoc. Very highly recommended for a worry-free, full and fulfilling itinerary.Posted on Tripadvisor

Debbie H86 days agoShort and Sweet Tour Justin showed my 88 year old mother and I around Bath. He was so very kind, warm and attentive to both of us but especially my mother.
